If you're considering clear aligners to straighten your teeth, you may have many questions. You're in luck because we have the answers. Today, we're going to address some common myths about Invisalign treatment that simply aren't true. Let's get started!

Myth #1: Invisalign® Is More Expensive Than Braces

The truth is that the cost of straightening your teeth with clear aligners or braces is comparable. The cost of orthodontic treatment is typically based more on the severity of your case and how long your treatment may take rather than which type of treatment you choose.

The best way to determine your cost of treatment is to book an evaluation with one of our dentists.

Myth #2: Your Diet Changes During Orthodontic Treatment

This is true of braces since you have to navigate brackets and wires, but not with Invisalign! Because you can remove your aligner for meals, you don't have to change your diet and can enjoy all the foods you love during treatment.

Myth #3: Invisalign Takes Longer Than Traditional Braces

This really depends on the patient's compliance and needs, but typically, Invisalign can be finished in the same amount of time as braces, and sometimes less. Wearing your aligners for at least 22 hours per day is the key, so if you're not compliant, treatment could take longer.

Myth #4: Clear Aligners Are Uncomfortable to Wear

As with anything, getting used to wearing clear aligners at first takes time. However, most patients agree that wearing smooth, clear aligners is much more comfortable than wearing pokey metal brackets and wires that can irritate your cheeks and gums.

Myth #5: Invisalign Is Only for Minor Corrections

While braces may be better for treating highly complicated bite issues, Invisalign does work well for moving teeth and correcting crossbites, overbites, and underbites.
